Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday unveiled the Union Budget 2018-19 in the Parliament. The last full-fledged budget of the Narendra Modi-led government and the first one after GST rollout was highly anticipated amid speculations being rife on how the budget will impact an array of sectors with major policy initiatives and support development.
Merely a few hours after the game changing budget, Mos PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh spoke exclusively Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.
During the course of the interview, Dr Singh said that the ‘allegations being put forward by those opposing the Budget have been are devoid of any conviction, facts or figures.’ On being questioned about how the Budget aims at solving the unemployment situation in India, Dr Singh said,
'This problem has been there for a long time and most of the times it was the Congress-led government which was at the Centre. Right from day 1, when the current Government took oath under PM Modi’s leadership, it has been taking decisions one after the other to address the issue of creating employability rather than addressing employment per say. We carried a baggage of several decades which has now been sought to address.'
