Students' demands
According to reports, the students are demanding a revocation in the fee hike that was announced by the HRD Ministry last week. Further, the students are stressing that the BE and BTech courses are already costly. According to them, the fee hike is not fair as most of the students complete their graduation on education loans, which ultimately leads to a huge burden on them. Apart from demanding a rollback to the fee hike, the students are also protesting to make MTech courses market and industry-ready.

HRD Ministry increases the fee
Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, chaired by Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, announced a fee hike by 900 per cent for the MTech courses last week. However, the ministry clarified that there is no fee hike for the existing and new admissions. The fees will be hiked gradually. Issuing a clarification notice, they said that the needy students will be provided with financial support.
