As he jumped ship from Congress to BJP, here's the reason Maharashtra Leader Of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil's son Sujay gave

Minutes after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Sujay Vikhe Patil hailed the efforts of the party in the development of the state, especially Ahmednagar constituency.

In what came a major setback for the Congress party, Sujay Vikhe Patil, son of Maharashtra Congress Assembly's Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior party leaders. 

Addressing the gathering present at the occasion, Sujay Vikhe Patil went onto hail the BJP party for its efforts in the development of Maharashtra, especially Ahmednagar constituency.

"The way BJP has worked in Ahmednagar in the last five years has impressed me and I have decided that it’s best to work and help in the development of Ahmednagar and that’s why I had to take this tough decision. I know senior BJP cadre will always support me and guide me towards the development of Ahmednagar," Patil said while addressing the BJP leaders.

Welcoming Sujay Vikhe Patil in BJP party, senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis expressed happiness over his induction in the party. 

"I am happy to announce that a young leader like Dr Sujay Vikhe Patil has joined BJP. I welcome him," he said.

After Sujay Vikhe Patil joined BJP, top sources have told that Congress' Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra state assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, may also resign from the post over the mounting pressure on the MLA from Shirdi constituency. 

This development came after the Sharad Pawar-led NCP turned down the request by Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil to leave aside the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat for his son.  Following few meeting BJP leader Girish Mahajan, Sujay Vikhe Patil jumped his ship to BJP.

 Dilip Gandhi is BJP's sitting MP from Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat currently. 

Meanwhile, the Congress finalised its seat-sharing arrangement with NCP in Maharashtra, retaining 26 seats and giving 22 to its electoral ally. Maharashtra will is set to go into polls in four phases in April 11, 18, 23 and 29.
