AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned and targeted PM Modi over the verdict in the 2007 Samjhauta Express Blast case in which all four accused - Aseemanand, Lokesh Sharma, Kamal Chauhan and Rajinder Chaudhary - were acquitted by Panchkula's Special NIA Court on Wednesday.

After PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti raised questions against the Samjhauta blast case verdict, suggesting the decision to acquit all the four accused shows there is 'leniency towards saffron terror', Asaduddin Owaisi attacked PM Modi questioning him if he was 'afraid' of Aseemanand, one of the main accused in the case, adding that the accused Swami was from RSS.

"If you are really a 'Chowkidar', then announce tomorrow itself that you will appeal against the decision taken by the court to acquit Aseemanand in Samjhauta blast case. Why are you so afraid of Aseemanand? Aseemanand, at one point of time, was associated with RSS," Owaisi said while addressing a rally in Bahadurpura on Wednesday.

Continuing his tirade against the Prime Minister, Owaisi said the latter "deeply follows" the ideology of RSS, an organisation which, he claimed, wants to "weaken the composite culture of India." He went onto target PM Modi over the acquittal of Assemanand in the Mecca Masjid case in which nine people were killed.

“What are the credentials of you as a chowkidar when you did not even appeal the acquittal of Swami Assemanand in the Mecca Masjid blast case which left nine dead? You did not appeal because you have love in your eyes for Aseemanand," he added.

Furthermore, taking to Twitter after the verdict, Owaisi had tweeted:

"Two unexploded bombs were also recovered from the site," the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said.

"This terrorist act was committed by using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along with the highly inflammable substances, which caused blasts and consequent fire in the compartments of the train no. 4001 UP Attari (Samjhauta) Express at Panipat, Haryana," the charge sheet read.
