Ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections, wrestler turned politician Babita Phogat began her campaign trail in Haryana with a massive roadshow in Dadri which is the constituency that she will be fighting the polls from. Phogat began her roadshow from Charkhi village and then visited the Sanghu Dham, a religious place which she visits after every win. After Sanghu Dham, the BJP candidate met and greeted the people of her constituency. Babita Phogat had earlier joined the BJP on August 12 and was soon given a ticket by the party to contest the upcoming elections from Dadri.
While speaking to Republic TV, Babita Phogat said, "The party has shown immense trust and confidence in me and I'm sure I will live up to their expectations. I will connect everyone with the party's strategies and I will visit all the elders and respected people to seek blessings for the upcoming elections. I will also work hard all day and night to live up to the party's expectations."
The CWG medalist who is contesting her first-ever elections, also said that she was pleased with the response that she has received so far. She also said that as said by the party, she will also fight the elections with the slogan of, 'Haryana ek, Haryanvi ek.' "I am really pleased to have received such a response from the people around. I have received the same love in politics like I did in wrestling. They have high expectations from me and the party and they feel that they are getting a trustworthy government. There is no shortcut to hard work and I have learnt this from childhood that if you want to achieve something, you will have to work for it day and night. I have the same mindset even now and I'm going to work day and night to serve and connect with people. We will fight the elections on our slogan, "Haryana ek, Haryanvi ek' with the same mindset we will also address the people of Haryana," Babita said.
The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled to take place on October 21 whereas the results will be announced on October 24. Ahead of the elections, famous sports personalities like Sandeep Singh and Yogeshwar Dutt also joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
