BJP jumps into action after election announcement, Rajnath Singh chairs Manifesto meet as mammoth 'Sankalp Patra' exercise gathers steam

Aiming to rope in a large number of people in preparing “Sankalp patra (agenda for governance)”, BJP had kicked off a pair of programs geared towards the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, with party president Amit Shah initiating 'Bharat Ke Mann Ki Baat - Modi Ke Saath' and the 'Sankalp Patra' initiative.

Aiming to rope in a large number of people in preparing “Sankalp patra (agenda for governance)”, BJP had kicked off a pair of programs geared towards the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, with party president Amit Shah initiating 'Bharat Ke Mann Ki Baat - Modi Ke Saath' and the 'Sankalp Patra' initiative. Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the Manifesto committee meeting on Monday for the same.

The BJP has formed various sub-groups for the preparation of the “Sankalp Patra”.

  • Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be heading the sub-group on agriculture.
  • Union Minister Smriti Irani would be heading the sub-group on women empowerment, while Union Minister Thaverchan Gehlot has been tasked to lead the team on social justice and inclusive society. 
  • The BJP vice president Vinay Sahashrabuddhe would head the sub-group on India’s foreign policies, relations with the neighbours, and island countries.
  • Former Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP B C Khanduri has been tasked to deal with the issues of internal security, Armed forces, terrorism, Maoism.
  • Union Minister of state for Home Affairs Kiran Rijiju would be assisting him. 
  • Union Minister Arun Jaitely would deal with the subject of economy, while Union Minister Prakash Javdekar has been tasked to prepare the papers on education and skill development. 
  • Union Ministers Mahesh Sharma, Hardeep Puri would deal with subjects of culture and heritage, and infrastructure respectively.

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party had flagged off three vehicles (Rath) to seek suggestions from people for drafting party’s election manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’. BJP national vice president Raman Singh who led the party to a crushing defeat in recently held assembly polls, flagged off the yatra at party office here. The vehicles have been sent to three revenue divisions- Bastar, Surguja and Raipur. The vehicles will cover all 90 state assembly constituencies and the drive will conclude in a month period.

Based on public suggestions, BJP will prepare its election manifesto for Lok Sabha 2019 polls. BJP state president Dharamlal Kaushik said that suggestions received from the public will be forwarded to Central party office.
