BJP leader Eknath Khadse's daughter to fight polls from Muktainagar

The senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Eknath Khadse's daughter Rohini Khadse will be contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the north Maharashtra constituency. Earlier, Khadse had filed for independent nomination from Muktainagar, however, the decision was changed. The BJP released its fourth list of seven candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly polls on Friday. 

BJP releases fourth list

The fourth and final list of the BJP candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly polls was released on Friday, with names of senior leaders like Eknath Khadse and Vinod Tawde being missing from the list. According to reports, the names of seven candidates are mentioned in the list. With the final list out, the BJP will be contesting 150 seats while the Shiv Sena will contest on 124 seats. Further, other allies will contest on 14 seats in the total 288-seats Maharashtra Assembly. According to the list, NCP MLC Rahul Narvekar will be contesting from Colaba. Prakash Mehta will be contesting on Ghatkopar east seat. Rahul Dhikale will contest from the Nashik East, Pradeep Padole has been fielded on Tumsar seat, and Charan Singh Thakur will contest from Katol seat. Education Minister Vinod Tawade and Power Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule are still out of the list.

Maharashtra Assembly elections

According to the announcement by the Election Commission, the 288-seats Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on October 1. It will be held in a single phase and the counting procedure would be conducted on October 24. The Election Commission chief Sunil Arora also announced that the last date of nomination is on October 4. In the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena had contested separately over a dispute over the sharing of seats. The BJP had won 122 out of 260 seats it had contested while the Sena bagged 63 out of 282 seats. However, this time, both parties will be sharing the seats.
