Actor-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha took to his Twitter handle on Friday to announce his entry in Indian National Congress party. The actor was earlier a part of Bhartiya Janata Party. Posting a picture with Rahul Gandhi, the actor wrote: "Hamaare ghanisht parivarik mitr Lalu Yadav ji ki anumati aur sahmati se kamaal ho gaya, dhamaal ho gaya...Jai Bihar, Jai Hind! Sahi disha, nayi disha, naya dost aur naya netritva....God bless @RahulGandhi "The Rahul Gandhi, hope of the nation"...🙏"

Sonakshi Sinha at an award event spoke to the media and opened up about his father's recent move. She said: "It's his decision. Being a party member from the beginning from the time of JP Narayan ji, Atal ji and Advani ji, my father has a lot of respect within the party and I feel the entire group has not been given the respect they deserve. I think he has done it a bit too late, and he should've done it long back."

She also added: "I think if you are not happy with how things are going on around you, you should not shy away from change. That's what he did. I hope in this new association with Congress, he'll be able to do more good work & not feel suppressed."

On March 28, Shatrughan Sinha announced that he is quitting BJP on Twitter. He wrote: "Painfully....on the way out of BJP....But hopefully in the best direction under the dynamic leadership of my dear friend Lalu Yadav and the desirable, most talked about leader from the Nehru Gandhi family... the true family of nation builders..."

Bollywood actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha had been associated with the Saffron Party for about three decades. "Now I am leaving BJP because dictatorship is going on there. So, I have decided to join Congress party for the nation's sake," he said on Thursday as he left the party.

Furthermore, Shatrughan Sinha hinted that he will be contesting the election from Bihar's Patna Sahib constituency from Congress ticket.

"Things are under control now. I have said it multiple times, whatever the situation be the contest will be from that seat (Patna Sahib) only. There is no reason for the delay - no problems. Everything is smooth," Sinha said speaking to reporters.

If nominated to contest from Patna Sahib constituency, Shatrughan Sinha will be taking on Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who only recently replaced him on the seat from BJP.
