Elections 2019 | BJP to finalise candidates for Telangana polls by March 16: Sources

The BJP will finalise candiates for Telangana on Friday for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party will be finalising the list for 17 parliamentary seats in the state, say sources. 

The state BJP president  K Laxman will be having a meeting on Friday to finalise the list, sources said.

After that he will fly down to Delhi to meet BJP president Amit Shah and have a discussion with him. The list will then be released by March 16, say sources.

The BJP had done poorly in the state assembly polls held in late 2018. It had won only one seat which is four seats down from the previous state polls result.

The state BJP chief K Laxman is confident about the party's fortunes and said that people are smart and can differentiate between assembly and parliamentary polls.

He had also said that people will vote in large numbers for the BJP as they want a stable central leadership.

The National Approval Ratings for Telangana for March projected a win for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and wiping out of NDA and UPA.

Working president of TRS and son of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao expressed satisfaction that his party was projected to dominate in Telangana in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

"A month away from parliament and early surveys indicate that TRS will be sweeping Telangana. C voter predicts 16/16 and 1 for MIM," his Twitter post read.
