In a sensational development in Tamil Nadu politics, superstar Rajinikanth on Friday announced that he will contest the state polls in case the government fails to get a majority after May 23.
Speaking to Republic TV in a telephonic conversation on the massive development, Rajinikanth's fellow actor-turned-politician and MNM chief Kamal Haasan gave his first response to the development. The following is Haasan's message to Rajinikanth:
"I would tell him congratulations and welcome," said Kamal Haasan.
On Friday, while interacting with the media outside his residence, Rajinikanth announced his decision to contest the assembly polls. Responding to the question on when he would launch his own party, Rajini said that he would decide after May 23.
On being asked for his message to fans who have vowed to vote for him, he said: " I will not let them be disappointed."
He also said that irrespective of whether or not there's a change in government post-May 23 as the DMK has claimed there will be, he would definitely face the Assembly elections whenever they are held.
