As the Haryana Assembly polls come to an end on Monday evening, the Republic TV and Pradeep Bhandari's Jan Ki Baat have conducted the exit poll based on the ground surveys for a better understanding of the outcome of the Haryana Assembly polls. According to Republic-Jan Ki Baat's exit poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kamal Gupta is projected to win the Haryana elections from the Hisar constituency. The survey is done using Jan Ki Baat Probability Map Of Outcome model (PMOO) which is backed by issue wise location matrix.

BJP candidate Kamal Gupta is contesting against Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Ramniwas Rada, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Pramod Bagri Valmiki, and Bahujan Samaj Party's Manju Dahiya. Gupta was appointed as BJP’s Hisar district president in 2012. Gupta was victorious in the 2014 Haryana assembly polls.

BJP projected to win in Haryana

As per the Republic-Jan Ki Baat's exit poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to win the assembly polls in Haryana this year. According to the exit poll, BJP is likely to get 52 to 63 seats (56%). On the other hand, the Congress is projected to get 19 to 15 seats (18%), Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) is projected to get 9 to 5 seats (10%), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is projected to get one to zero seats, while the remaining parties are projected to get 9 to 7 seats (16%).

2014 Assembly poll results

Before 2014, the Congress had a stronghold over the Hisar constituency in Haryana. However, in 2014, with the emergence of the BJP in power, saffron party candidate Kamal Gupta had defeated Savitri Jindal by a margin of about 14,000 votes. The increasing tallies (Exit poll projection) of the BJP and Congress this year seem to come from the INLD which is projected to see an 11 seat decline from its 2014 tally of 12 seats.
