Aiming to attack Mehbooba Mufti with the elections looming ever so close, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah ended up taking a few lines of her counterpart to criticize the Indian army.

The National Conference leader, while addressing a rally in his home state, left no stones unturned as he accused the PDP chief of double standards. But during his speech, Omar made statements against both her political opponent and the Indian army.

His comments were in reference to the 2017 incident in which Major Leetul Gogoi, who tied up a person and used him as a shield against the stone pelters in Kashmir. The NC leader lashed out at Mufti for the way she reacted to the incident when it had taken place.

"Today, PDP chief (Mehbooba Mufti) said that the security forces shouldn't be strict from their side. When a youngster, from my constituency, in 2017 was tied in front of an army jeep and was paraded across 10 villages, where was she then?.... When the Human Rights Commission announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh for him, it was you who blocked it," said the Abdullah scion.

Omar then continued his tirade against the PDP chief, accusing her of faking tears in order to gain political mileage. He also mentioned that PDP chief's reality was exposed in 2015, indicating her party forming an alliance with the BJP to form the government in J&K.

"We have seen their reality in 2015 and 2018. We thought the tears in her eyes were real. Those were the tears of regret and pain. But after 2015, we realised the tears were for power. The tears don't come out of her heart, but from her mind......" he added.
