Taking note of the sting operation conducted by Republic Bharat on one its own MP from Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stated that strictest of action will be taken against any leader who is found to be part of such activities.

Sources within the BJP have told Republic TV that they will thoroughly go through the sting tape and analyze what its leader Harinarayan Rajbhar had said on camera. Further, the party has zero tolerance when it comes to corruption and action will be taken against the parliamentarian after examining his explanation, sources added.

Republic Bharat on Tuesday broadcasted sting operations done on three parliamentarians. One of those who was caught on tape making sensational claims was the MP from Ghosi, Harinarayan Rajbhar.

He made some really shocking claims when Republic Bharat's undercover reporter spoke with him. Here are some of things which the MP revealed:

  • He said, "I contested the 2014 General Elections. There were a few who spent around Rs 5 crores but couldn't win. I spent only Rs 85 lakhs and I won the seat."
  • He told the undercover reporter, "However there are situations when we need money to buy votes. Money is distributed. So we will see what the situation demands." 
  • He also told the Republic Bharat reporter, "We need is the promotion of campaigns, travel, petrol expenses. These are the things where we could use the help. Are you understanding what I'm saying?"
  • He asserted to the reporter, "Look when we win elections with your support, your work will be prioritised."

Following the massive newsbreak, Republic Media confronted the two deputy CMs of Uttar Pradesh and asked them for their opinion. Dinesh Sharma stated that he will go through the tape before coming to any conclusion.

The BJP leader shied away from taking a stand, saying he hadn't seen the video. Though, he said such things aren't acceptable, and due action will be taken if any individual is found to be indulging in such acts.

As for Keshav Prasad Maurya, he also had a similar stand. "I don't know about this. I can't respond because I haven't seen the video. We only want corruption free India," said the other deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh.
