The Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates of General Elections 2019. While the 543 seats of 29 states and 7 Union Territories will go into polls in seven phases beginning from April 11 till May 19. The counting of votes for all the states is scheduled to take place on May 23.
As the countdown to General Elections 2019 has officially begun, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to extend a congratulatory message to the Election Commission and to the voters of the nation who are going to elect its new government.
In a series of tweets, PM Modi urged the Indians to enrich the Lok Sabha election with their active participation, adding that the festival of democracy - elections - are here.
In another tweet, he extended best wishes to the Election Commission for the conduct of fair and just elections in April-May election season.
Hitting out the UPA, PM Modi tweeted that the people rejected the Congress-led party in 2014 over the unprecedented anger over its corruption and nepotism.
Later, extending best wishes to political parties for the 2019 polls, the Prime Minister spoke about the contribution of people to the betterment of the nation along with various developmental projects that the NDA government initiated in the country.
