Maharashtra Exit Poll projects Kothrud win for BJP's Chandrakant Patil

With the Maharashtra assembly polls concluding on Monday, all eyes are on who will emerge triumphant when votes are counted on Thursday. Ahead of that, Republic-Jan Ki Baat's Exit Poll has brought viewers the most accurate projection of what to expect on October 24. The projection is based on extensive and statistically significant son-ground sapling on voting-day.

Kothrud Assembly seat:

In Pune's Kothrud, BJP state chief Chandrakant Patil is projected to secure a landslide victory, with MNS candidate Kishore Shinde lagging in second place.  A total of 11 candidates contested in the 2019 assembly elections. MNS candidate Kishore Shinde was backed by the Congress and the NCP

In the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Kulkarni Medha Vishram of BJP won in this seat by defeating the SS candidate by a margin of almost 64662 votes.

Maharashtra BJP unit president Chandrakant Patil in his 'manifesto' for the Kothrud constituency promised the protection of the environment, improving public transport and ensuring safety and security of senior citizens. He also promised setting up a 'cultural university' in the urban constituency. Kothrud is a district of Maharashtra's Pune and is part of the Pune Lok Sabha constituency.

Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019: What the Exit poll projects:

As per the Republic-Jan Ki Baat exit poll, the NDA is projected to secure in the range of 216 to 230 seats in Maharashtra with BJP in line to almost reach majority-mark on its own with 135 to 142 seats. BJP is followed by ally Shiv Sena, which is predicted to secure 81 to 88 seats in Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar's NCP is predicted to grab 30 to 35 seats. Meanwhile, Congress is estimated to contribute 20 to 24 seats to the UPA alliance.

Maharashtra elections

In Maharashtra, where the 'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and smaller parties is against the 'Maha-agadhi' led by the Congress and the NCP.  In the 288-member Assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting on 164 seats, which includes candidates of smaller allies. Shiv Sena has fielded 126 candidates. Congress, on the other hand, has candidates in 147 constituencies and NCP will contest 121 seats.
