PM Modi steps up 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign, interacts with over 25 lakh Chowkidars via audio bridge. LIVE UPDATES here

Intensifying his 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' (I too am watchman)campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with 25 lakh newly minted chowkidars through video conference.

Earlier, speaking at a press conference, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the campaign has become a "people's movement" as the 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' hashtag has been tweeted 20 lakh times and had 1680 crore impressions. 

Replying to a question if the campaign was a counter to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's 'chowkidar chor hai' (watchman is the thief) barb, he rejected the suggestion and asserted that Modi in his campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls had projected himself as the "first servant" and 'chowkidaar' of the country. 

On Saturday, Modi had urged his supporters to take the 'main bhai chowkidar' (I too am watchman) pledge, saying he is not alone in the fight against graft and social evils.

Earlier, Prime Minister had changed his Twitter name to 'Chowkidar Narendra Modi'. The Modi-led BJP launched this campaign to counter the Congress's 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' jibe with the campaign '#MaiBhiChowkidar'. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has time and again hurled the 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' barb at PM Modi over Rafale fighter jet deal. 

The PM released a video with the same title on Twitter and said, "Your Chowkidar is standing firm and serving the nation". 

"But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar," PM Modi said in a tweet that also had the video attached.
