Rajasthan Municipal Body Elections Result: BJP leading in Jalore

The process of counting votes for 49 civic urban local bodies in Rajasthan has begun today after elections were held in the state on Saturday. Around 2000 ward councillors will be elected in in these municipal bodies. The results will be announced later today. The big parties in Rajasthan namely the BJP and the Congress control 21 municipal bodies each in state while the rest are with independent candidates or other parties.

BJP is leading in BJP is leading in Jalore and Udaipur wards. In Udaipur BJP has won 41 seats. BJP has also won Alwar.

Congress is leading in most districts in Rajasthan as per early trends including Baran, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Sikar, Rajsamand and Sirohi. Congress has also won Mount Abu

Independents are leading in Bharatpur.

As per 12.45 pm data, Congress has been leading in around 650 wards and BJP is leading in around 550. 

The polls on Saturday recorded 72 per cent voting. The highest voter turnout was seen in Nasirabad municipality of Ajmer district which recorded 91.67 per cent turnout. The election for Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the urban local bodies will be held on November 26 and 27 respectively.

The BJP on October 29 had formed an 11-member committee for management and candidate selection for the municipal body elections in Rajasthan. Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia, the state organisation general secretary Chandrashekhar, Leader of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, Union Ministers Arjun Meghwal and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP Jaskaur Meena, former State President Ashok Parnami and Arun Chaturvedi were in the committee.

Poonia had also ruled out any possibility of an alliance with any other party in the civic elections.

"The BJP has its own existence in urban bodies, so I don't think there is any need for an alliance," he said.

Last year the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly went to polls on December 7 and results will be declared on December 11.
