On the Day 2 of the inaugural Republic Summit 2018, BJP President Amit Shah, speaking on the theme of 'Consensus Possible?', responded on an array of questions in the light of the upcoming crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On being asked about the allegations put up by several political parties including TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and RLSP (Rashtriya Lok Samta Party) on the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) over the alliance's functioning in the political diaspora of the country, Mr Shah said:

"These things keep on happening among alliances because every party wants to inrease their number of seats. These happens on both sides. These are not-so-big agendas to discuss on. These happen every time and then next the parties contest together."

Later, answering to the questions on the speculations about the possibilities of a 'super NDA' ahead of the 2019 polls, Mr Shah stated that negotiations are in order for more parties to join in the BJP party.

"Today, we have 31 parties, out of which 6 are big ones. We are in talking terms with more parties also. There will be an alliance, but till the time alliance is not in existence, there are certain small parties in for example North-East with whom we have talked with. The results have come in our favour. We have established an organisation there where all non-Congress will come under one umbrella. There can be an alliance in UP also."

BJP chief Amit Shah went onto declare that the party is going to contest in the upcoming elections as the NDA, vis-a-vis going into it solely as the BJP without any seat-sharing alliances.

"We will fight 2019 elections NDA, with pre-poll alliances. But naturally, the nucleus of the NDA is BJP which will be under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
