Amid the rising tides of rebellion among the Congress Party, Maharashtra Congress strongman Sanjay Nirupam on Friday unleashed a scathing attack on the party. Nirupam was addressing a press conference in Mumbai's Lokhandwala. In his address to the media, he said that Congress is crippled with a 'Systematic Fault' within the party.
The ex-parliamentarian lashed out at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and said that the party's decision-makers working under her are biased. Apart from this, Nirupam also alleged that some other leaders have a similar take on the current scenario within the Congress Party. He also said that some individuals within the party ranks have started plotting against other party members.
"There are some members in the Congress Party who have no understanding, no hold. Instead, they have started ignoring and plotting against some leaders of the Congress Party." said Nirupam
Furthermore, Sanjay Nirupam said that the Congress Party runs on a system, which includes the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary. According to Nirupam, whatever decision is taken by the AICC GS, it is considered as a final decision.
"The current situation in Congress is that, whatever the AICC General Secretary decides, it is considered as the final decision," added Nirupam.
However, Nirupam said that the AICC General Secretary can also have a mind of his own which constitutes of greed, arrogance, personal agenda and revenge. He later said that earlier the party used to consider AICC General Secretary's opinion, however, a parallel take was also considered which has declined today. Nirupam concluded by saying that the current model of the Congress Party is faulty to the core.
"This model is faulty and to be blamed. There is a systematic fault in the Congress Party today which will further affect and ultimately decimate the party," said Sanjay Nirupam.

Earlier on Thursday, Nirupam announced that he will not campaign for the Congress Party in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. He said that the grand old party ignored his recommendations for the polls. Taking to Twitter, Nirupam confirmed his decision to stay away from campaigning, thereby citing it as his final decision.
It seems Congress Party doesn’t want my services anymore. I had recommended just one name in Mumbai for Assembly election. Heard that even that has been rejected.— Sanjay Nirupam (@sanjaynirupam) October 3, 2019
As I had told the leadership earlier,in that case I will not participate in poll campaign.
Its my final decision.
Even so, Nirupam has decided to not quit the Congress Party, but expressed his growing concern and said that:
"I hope that the day has not yet come to say good bye to party. But the way leadership is behaving with me, it doesn’t seem far away."
