Sena warns BJP: Don't get ahead of yourself or will be taught a lesson

After Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's blunt reminder to BJP about the 50:50 formula agreement for power-sharing in their coalition for the Maharashtra assembly polls, the party in its mouthpiece 'Saamna' fired a warning to the party. Targetting BJP and Devendra Fadnavis, the editorial cautioned BJP of getting ahead of itself and play politics using the means of threats and fear.

"...The people of Maharashtra have spoken — don't get ahead of yourself; if you attempt to throw your weight through politics then you will be taught an unforgettable lesson," the Shiv Sena said in the editorial. The piece also reminded the BJP that, "you did not get the majority on your own."

Shiv Sena warns BJP it did not get 'a huge mandate'

In a biting critique, the party spelled out for BJP that the people of Maharashtra had spoken through the EVMs that if they get ahead of themselves about the results (in which BJP won close to 102 seats). It said it was not a huge mandate for the party and that the BJP should accept it with humility. Sparing a few words of praise for the Opposition, it said that they managed to get at least 100 seats while BJP's tally was less than its previous assembly result despite having an alliance with it this year.

Shiv Sena lauds Opposition, decries BJP's failure to make a dent in Opposition's votes

The Shiv Sena in the editorial said that Opposition, especially NCP managed to bag decent number of seats, despite BJP's attempts to create a 'dent' in the party so much that even observers wondered if the party would continue to exist. The editorial added that the people of Maharashtra had taught a lesson to BJP for playing politics of this kind. Shiv Sena in the column also lauded the public for voting without the fear of being threatened and did not play into the BJP's political games.
