With less than a month away for the Lok Sabha elections and Congress failing to consolidate its alliances in several states, it appears that the party has reverted once again to 'gaali politics'.
This pattern was seen even during the assembly elections which was held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2018, when the Congress leaders had lowered political rhetoric by publicly making casteist and classist remarks. One Rajasthan leader had even abused PM Modi at a public meeting.
In yet another such shocking attempt, taking the political rhetoric to a despicable low, a Karnataka leader from the party has called PM Narendra Modi "Namard".
B Narayan Rao, an MLA from Basavakalyan in Bidar district made the disgraceful remark while speaking in a public gathering.
"Those who are namard can get married but can't have children, PM Modi can get married but can't have children. This is not a PM who works, but a PM who lies," he said in a public gathering in Kalaburagi in Karnataka.
The reprehensible behaviour was seen even during a poll rally in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. The incident happened at Shamsabad in Telangana.
Just over a week ago, in a shocking statement, Congress' star campaigner Vijaya Shanti on Saturday compared Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of the country, to a terrorist. Her comment has come less than a month since the Pulwama terror attack and subsequent tension between India and Pakistan.
"The Congress and the BJP are at war which means the war has started between Rahul Gandhi and Modi. Modi's goal is autocracy, Rahul's soul is democracy. Rahul is fighting for democracy to live, Modi is killing democracy he wants to trouble people, Modi is ruling like a dictator. He has ruled like a dictator and he wants to dictate the next 5 years. But this time no citizen of India will give him the opportunity. Today, after seeing BJP everybody is scared. It is scary that at which moment Modi will blast which bomb. Modi is looking like a terrorist. Instead of loving people, he is scaring people. This is not a PM's motive, cannot be his motive," she said
