NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has accused BJP of using abrogation of Article 370 and revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir as an answer to all the questions. With less than a week left for Maharashtra assembly elections, Pawar called out the ruling government at the rally in Pune’s Hadapsar. The poll-bound State will be voting on October 21 and the results of the elections are scheduled to be declared on October 24. Just a day before, Sharad Pawar also commented on the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis saying that farmers were committing suicide to 'welcome' Chief Minister to their constituencies.

‘BJP has nothing concrete to show’

"Since BJP does not have anything concrete to show, they are harping on abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. When it was revoked, some people in Kashmir protested. Congress supported the proposal and asked that people there be taken into confidence. We are also happy (on the revocation). There were no complaints. I publicly announced my support but they (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah) address people and question my opinion."

Sharad Pawar also reiterated that the ruling party should tell the people what they changed in five years and not make abrogation of Article 370 a central point of campaigning in the State. He said, "Question them about farmer suicides, unemployment, closure of industries, and the BJP replies Article 370". He mocked PM Modi and the Home Minister Amit Shah for "not completing their speeches without taking my name. Sometimes I am worried. I can understand Modiji is single. However, the second one might be taking my name in his sleep as well, and his family members must be surprised".

‘Ill effects of BJP regime’

Earlier, addressing a rally at Vaijapur, Pawar had said that the farmer's suicide was, "a result of the ill effects of the BJP regime". “The man who ended his life wanted to indicate that farmers are suffering because of this government," he added. He said that the Congress-NCP government had understood that debt was a disease and worked towards reducing the burden on farmers.
