In Mumbai's Bandra East area, clashes were reported on Thursday, October 24, between members of former Shiv Sena MLA Trupti Sawant and Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, who is Shiv Sena's candidate from Bandra East assembly constituency. According to Shiv Sena workers, Vishwanath is losing the elections because of Trupti Sawant. Trupti Sawant contested the elections as an independent after being denied a ticket. Her late husband, a Sena veteran, had won this seat by defeating a BJP candidate in the 2014 elections. She was elected in a by-poll after his death.  Zeeshan Siddique of Congress has defeated Vishwanath Mahadeshwar from Bandra East assembly seat.

Nitesh Rane wins from Kankavali region

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Nitesh Rane, who contested from Mahrashtra's Kankavali region has won the elections with 58% vote share. The leader has a lead with over 43,000 votes from the region. Kankavali is an Assembly/Vidhan Sabha seat in Konkan region and Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra and is part of Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg Lok Sabha constituency.

'BJP-Shiv Sena will continue alliance'

Shiv Sena spokesperson and MP Sanjay Raut spoke to media amid vote counting in the Maharashtra assembly elections on Thursday with the Sena-BJP alliance likely to come back to power. With the parties' combined seat-share trends slightly lower than their 2014 figure at the time of this publication. Raut asserted that the long-standing partners would continue their alliance, and have agreed to a 50-50 formula for forming a government.

'We have agreed upon 50-50 formula'

"Numbers do go up and down," Raut said, adding, "I am going to meet Uddhav. Yes, we will definitely continue with the alliance. We have agreed upon a 50-50 formula." the Shiv Sena leader said. Raut's comments come a day after he said the BJP won't be able to make a government without Shiv Sena's support. "The BJP cannot form the next government without the help of the Shiv Sena, even if it wins only 4-5 seats," Raut said. He also said, that his party would win 100 out of the total 124 seats it had contested.  "I think Shiv Sena will win 100 seats. But the BJP alone cannot form its government. The BJP-Sena alliance will cross 200 marks in this assembly elections," he said while speaking to a regional media. At the time of publishing, the BJP and Shiv Sena are leading in the Maharashtra trends with a combined seat-share of 161 out of 288.
