Politics is a game of possibilities, While no one knows what will happen next, a similar incident occurred in Maharashtra political landscape, on Monday, when two arch-rivals not only came together but also showered praises on each other. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray together went to Washim district of Maharashtra to attend a programme of the Vanzara community. Both the leaders did bhoomi pujan for the welfare of the community at the Sant sevalal Maharaj temple premises in the district.
Furthermore, Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis were also seen playing the traditional drums of Vanzara community during the gathering.
Later, both the leaders were heard hailing praises for each other. While the Shiv Sena chief congratulated the Chief Minister for the reservation of Marathas, Devendra Fadnavis also praised Uddhav Thackeray.
Interestingly, this is the first time in the past couple of months when both the arch-rivals jointly attended a programme in the state. However, the story doesn’t end here. It is also interesting to know, how both the leaders reached the programme venue.
After reaching Yavatmal district in the state, Devendra Fadnavis went into the green room of Uddhav Thackeray. They had a discussion there for a short while and then came out. Later, instead of travelling in his own car, Fadnavis broke the protocol and joined Uddhav Thackeray in his bulletproof safari car to reach the event venue.
According to sources, while travelling in the same car, both the leaders discussed various issues catering to the state. This is the first time when Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has broken the protocol for Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray or for any other leaders.
Fadnavis' gesture has raised many eyebrows in the political circle. Many political pundits are seeing this as thawing ice on relationships seeing that Uddhav Thackeray has been one of the most vocal critics of Fadnavis government over the time.
Whether it is farmers distress, Ram Mandir or any other issue, the Shiv Sena supremo has never missed an opportunity to target the Fadnavis government.
Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray had announced that he will not contest any upcoming elections in an alliance with the BJP. However, BJP has not still lost hopes of an alliance. In many instances, Devendra Fadnavis has publicly admitted that if Shiv Sena and BJP will contest the elections alone in Maharashtra, then there are chances that both the parties will face losses. He has also maintained that since both the parties have same ideology of Hindutva, they should fight together in the elections.
Even though Shiv Sena is not ready to open their cards now and still maintaining that the party will contest alone, the political landscape can change any time.
