Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to several celebrities across domains urging them to help bring more people out to vote. In a series of Tweets, he addressed several A-listers from the sports and entertainment industry to come forward and create voter awareness. In a recent post, he tagged Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and musicians AR Rahman and Lata Mangeshkar requesting them to contribute to the cause.
In the post, PM Modi wrote, "When @mangeshkarlata Didi, @sachin_rt and @arrahman say something, the nation takes note! I humbly request these remarkable personalities to inspire more citizens to come out and vote in the 2019 elections. A vote is a great way to make the people's voice heard."

PM Narendra Modi also reached out to several young actors from the Bollywood film fraternity including Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt urging them to take up the initiative.
This comes barely four weeks ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha election, scheduled on April 11. Earlier on the day, PM Modi posted a blog in which he made “four requests for democracy” and said the election is an “occasion for celebration” while asserting that “not voting causes great anguish”.
“Would you want a situation where something happens in the country that you disapprove of and you are forced to think - because I did not go vote that day, this unfortunate situation has arisen and the nation is suffering,” The Prime Minister said in his blog.
He further talked about how people connect themselves with the country’s dreams and aspirations by voting and advised: “Spare yourself from that regret and go vote.”
The “four requests”, as put out by PM Modi, are for the eligible voters to get themselves registered, make sure their names figure in the list of electoral rolls, plan their voting schedule to make sure they use franchise and to mobilise friends and families to vote in large numbers.
