154 new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland; tally rises to 3,322

At least 154 more people, including 21 security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaland on Friday, pushing the state's tally to 3,322, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said.

Of the fresh patients, 86 have been detected through contact tracing, according to a bulletin issued by Health and Family Welfare Department's Additional Director Dr Denis Hangsing.

A total of 21 security personnel, 40 returnees and seven front line workers are among the new patients, he said.

"154 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected out of 831 samples tested 84 in Kohima, 58 in Dimapur, 10 in Zunheboto, one each in Mon and Wokha district," Phom said in a tweet.

Fifty-nine patients - 38 in Dimapur, 14 in Kohima, three in Mokokchung, two in Wokha and one each in Peren and Phek - were cured of the disease on Friday, Hangsing said, adding that the recovery rate in the state now stands at 36.06 per cent.

Nagaland now has 2,110 active cases, while 1,198 people have recovered from the disease and eight died. Six patients have migrated to other states.

Of the total coronavirus patients in the state, 1,468 are armed forces and paramilitary personnel and 1,157 are returnees, he said, adding that 210 front line workers have been diagnosed with the disease.

Dimapur has the maximum number of coronavirus cases at 1,718, followed by Kohima at 869, Peren at 264 and Mon at 263, the health department official said.

Kiphire continues to remain as the only infection-free district in the state.
