19 Year Old Gangraped In Haryana’s Rewari; Rapists Known But No Arrests Made So Far

A 19 year old student was abducted and gangraped after being drugged in Haryana’s Rewari district on Wednesday. However, even after 48 hours have passed since the crime, no arrests have been made by the police. The victim was going to her coaching centre, when two people came to meet her at a bus stand and gave her water to drink. Soon after, the girl lost consciousness, according to an FIR registered at Kanina police station.

As per the lodged complaint, the accused, after committing the crime, left the victim near a bus stop in unconscious state. An FIR was lodged against the accused by the Police on Friday evening.

The rape survivor’s mother, while speaking to Republic TV, has said that despite the accused being identified no action has been taken so far.

“My daughter was on her way to the coaching centre. My daughter was kidnapped. after she was abducted - she was kidnapped at 4pm from the bus stand and she was left in a drugged state. Pankaj and Manish abducted her. They took her to a well where there were more people. Nishu was also with them. My daughter was left in the worst possible state. Modi said 'beti bachao, beti padhao'. How do we educate them? My daughter can't go anywhere. Give justice to my daughter.  Police is asking us to go here and there. The rapists are roaming around my house. No action has been taken yet. Where should we go. Nobody is listening to us. Neither the police nor the government,” said the rape survivor’s mother.

Speaking about the case, the Haryana ADGP, AS Chawla, has said that raids are conducted to nab all the accused. Chawla also alleged that victim’s parents refused to give statement under section 164 CrPC. When he was asked on the increased cases of rape in the state, the ADGP said that special officers have been deputed for controlling such incidents of crime.

Even as the Manohar Lal Khattar government’s police have failed to nab the accused, the Haryana CM has issued statement, saying the ‘law will take its own course' and the culprits will be nabbed.

Meanwhile, the NCW has now taken suo moto cognizance of the case.

As per accessed data, there has been 961 cases of rape between September 2014 to August 2015, 1,026 such cases between September 2015 and August 2016, which has now risen to 1,413 from September 2017 to uptill now.
