The meteorological department had said that rain and thunderstorm would occur in isolated areas over the next two hours on Friday. The weather forecast for Friday has predicted rains in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.

The IMD had said that thunderstorm with rain and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph would occur over and adjoining areas of Delhi and other areas of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

In Haryana, rain accompanied by thunderstorm was predicted in Hisar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Panipat, Kosli, Sonipat, Bagpat, Gurugram, Rewari, Bawal, Hodal Mahendragarh, and Manesar.

Light rains were also predicted in Uttar Pradesh. In the state, the IMD had predicted light rains in Ghaziabad and Noida on Friday.

"Hail precipitation is most likely over and nearby of Meerut, Modinagar, Loni, Khair and isolated places of Delhi during the next 2 hours," IMD said.

The rains are likely to bring down the mercury levels, providing relief to the people suffering from the scorching heat for the past few days. With light rains, the Delhi weather is likely to turn pleasant.

Earlier in the day, maximum temperatures in Himachal Pradesh decreased by a few notches after rains lashed several parts of the state Thursday, the meteorological department said. The weatherman had also issued 'yellow' weather warning of thunderstorm accompanied by hailstorm and gusty winds for Friday.
