4 fresh COVID-19 cases in Puducherry, tally rises to 35

Four fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday, pushing the total number of active cases to 35 in the union territory.

Four fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday, pushing the total number of active cases to 35 in the union territory.

The patients, all from Puducherry region of the UT, were being treated in the government hospital here. The other three regions - Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe - have nil cases as of now, Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao told reporters in Puducherry.

On Thursday, nine patients were discharged from the government hospitals in Puducherry and Mahe regions after recovery. Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, had only two patients who were cured of the infection and discharged.

With the four fresh cases, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory stand at 35.

Director of Health and Family Welfare services S Mohan Kumar said the four fresh cases belong to neighbouring Muthialpet and were close relatives of a COVID-19 patient already under treatment.
