'Absolutely Indian by heart', Karachi Bakery issues a statement after being forced to cover up outlet's name in Bengaluru. Read here

A day after an outlet of the well-known Karachi bakery chain in Bengaluru was forced to cover up "Karachi" on its signboard after protests broke out in the wake of Pulwama attack, the bakery has asserted that the "essence of Karachi Bakery is absolutely Indian by heart and will remain so". Talking to Twitter, the famous outlet clarified:

This comes after some people had allegedly gathered in front of the bakery near Bengaluru's 100 Feet Road - a commercial hub in the city. As per inputs, a 20+ strong group of protestors appeared at the premises and began to raise slogans against the shop's name, Karachi, which is Pakistan's largest city.

As a result, the Karachi Bakery's staff decided to cover up the word "Karachi" and also unfurled up an Indian Tricolour. Photographs of the outlet circulated on social media, however, the shop remained operational and only closed as per schedule. 

The Karachi Bakery which is well-known for its fruit biscuits was founded in 1953, as per its website, by Khanchand Ramnani who fled from Pakistan during partition and established the first outlet in Hyderabad.

In the aftermath of the attack, India has revoked the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status that was unilaterally accorded to Pakistan over 20 years ago. The government has also resolved to isolate Pakistan on the global stage, and the Prime Minister has assured that the forces have been given a free hand to avenge the attack.

Soon after the blast, shots were fired at the CRPF jawans. Pakistan- backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack.
