Bollywood film actor and Gurdaspur MP Sunny Deol has been asked to explain his poll expenditure during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 after it was brought to the EC's notice that he had crossed the statutory limit of Rs 70 Lakhs.

After registering a historic win, BJP'S MP from Gurdaspur, Sunny Deol won the Lok Sabha seat. He defeated Congress nominee Sunil Jakhar with a margin of 82,459 votes.  As per reports, Deputy Commissioner Ujjwal refused to comment on the election expenditure figure. Reportedly, Deol's expenditure was registered at Rs 86 Lakhs. 

Mr. Ujjwal has stated that the amount of  BJP MP's Deol’s poll expenditure was not a final figure and that they have issued him a notice for 'reconciliation' of accounts and the final figure of the poll expenditure will be known only after the settlement of the accounts.

Stating that it is ' too early' to comment on the overspending right now, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the statutory poll expenditure has been fixed at Rs 70 Lakh whereas BJP MP's Deol's was found to be in excess of limit among all the other candidates in the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. 

In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Sunny Deol came up trumps, and won 551177 votes, beating Jakhar's tally (474168 votes) by 82459 votes. The actor-politician enjoyed a vote share of 50.61 percent. Meanwhile, Masih came third with 27744 votes.
