AgustaWestland Case: Middleman Christian Michel Rushes Lawyer To Dubai

Christian Michel rushed his lawyer, Rosemary Patrizi, to Dubai to look into the case while ED is actively pursuing Letter Rogatory against him.

In a massive news break, sources have told Republic TV that while ED is actively pursuing Letter Rogatory issued against the arrested Agusta Middleman Christian Michel, he has rushed his lawyer, Rosemary Patrizi, to Dubai to look into the case. 

As per reports, the Indian govt has made massive efforts with UAE authorities to extradite Christian Michel. The authorities have also been extremely cooperative with Indian agencies. Top govt officials have been in touch with UAE authorities for extradition process and have made multiple visits have been so far.

While talking exclusively to Republic TV, Ms. Patrizi said that she has met  Michel and that he is doing fine. This was reportedly the first meeting between Michel and his lawyer.

James Christian Michel was arrested in Dubai. As per reports, Michel was brought into the deal at the last stage and he allegedly took bribes on behalf of Indian Netas. The alleged links to top-notch ministers are being investigated.

Top sources told Republic TV that Michel was earlier detained let off by the authorities, he was then re-arrested in Dubai. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed Michel arrest and said that his extradition process is currently on and supporting documents have been submitted to the court.

This came on a day after both CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) failed to submit essential evidence against Michel, before the UAE courts, and later alleged that the Agusta middlemen’s lawyer has been making false claims. 

Earlier, Republic TV accessed details of a comprehensive charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scandal before the Patiala House Court.

The charge sheet named a total of 34 people and firms, however, does not mention the name of Christian Michel. The list of firms include names of both Indian and foreign companies.

Earlier on September 1, 2017, the CBI filed a charge sheet in a Delhi court against former IAF Chief S P Tyagi and nine others in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case.  The same chargesheet also named James Christian Michel

The CBI named IAF chief SP Tyagi, Air Vice Chief JS Gujral, AgustaWestland's Giuseppe Orsi and alleged Indian middleman Gautam Khaitan also Tyagi’s lawyer whom they allege was the mastermind behind the whole case and that it was through him that the money reached India and in turn several firms.

The charge sheet also named Tyagi’s cousin Sanjeev alias Julie in the Rs. 450 crore chopper bribe case. The charge was filed before a Special CBI judge.
