On his tour of Gujarat, where he inaugurated a host of progressive projects, PM Narendra Modi unveiled a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi in Rajkot. Days before Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, he spoke about the efforts taken by the 'Father of the Nation' in bringing change in our lives. PM Modi also expressed his happiness for a museum being established to pay tribute to the life of 'Bapu'.

“It must make us all happy that a museum dedicated to Bapu is open in Rajkot. Bapu always said that think of the last person in the queue, the poorest person, and serve the underprivileged. Inspired by this ideal we are serving the poor. Through our initiatives we want to transform their lives. We want to build homes for the poor,” he said.

The PM further went onto speak about Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Swachh Bharat.

“It has been over seventy years since Independence but Bapu's dream of a Swachh Bharat remains unfulfilled. Together, we have to fulfil this dream. In the last four years, we have covered significant ground in Swachh Bharat Mission but we must continue to do more,” the former Gujarat CM added.

The Mahatma Gandhi Museum has been set up at Alfred High School in Rajkot. Rajkot is an essential part of Mahatma Gandhi’s early years and the museum is dedicated to impart awareness and values of Mahatma Gandhi among the citizens.

PM Modi then went onto hail the state of Gujarat, terming it as the 'biggest LNG hub of India'. He said, “Gujarat is emerging as the LNG hub of India and this should make every Gujarati proud”.

Stating the need for a strong energy section for the growth and development of any country, the BJP supremo said that 'we cannot alleviate poverty if we are energy poor’. The Prime Minister also spoke about the rising aspirations of people in the society with the development of ample opportunities in the tourism sector as well.

“The world is keen to come to India. We have seen in Kutch too, how the White Rann has become the cynosure of all eyes from across the world”, he further added.

He later spoke about the various steps taken by the Union Government to make the aviation sector more affordable and improve connectivity. Talking about the efforts being taken to ensure that the electricity reaches to every single household in the nation, he added,

“We want to bring qualitative changes in the lives of the common citizen of India."
