The AIADMK Information and Technology Minister, Kadambur Raju, was caught on camera insulting late chief minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi. He was addressing the Crowd in Kovilpatti on Monday when he stated that "even if the Court has ordered to give land at Anna Memorial, we chose not to appeal only out of goodwill".

"If Karunanidhi would have died during the DMK regime, he would have been given full state respects. What he got now is the alms given to him by the state government. The CM and I had signed the order for giving state respects and Rajaji Hall. Even if the Court has ordered to give land at Anna Memorial, we chose not to appeal only out of goodwill. If Karunanidhi is lying in Anna Memorial, it is the alms given by us".

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) supremo M Karunanidhi breathed his last in the month of August this year. The DMK in August had to move to Madras High Court after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami had denied permission to bury Karunanidhi at Marina Beach. The HC had then granted permission to the DMK for Karunanidhi's memorial at the site.

This comes after DMK passed a resolution demanding the resignation of state Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police TK Rajendran. The party under its new president MK Stalin held a statewide protest on September 18 in all the districts.

"During the meeting today, a resolution was passed over the resignation of DGP TK Rajendran and Minister C Vijayabaskar and their arrest. DMK will hold a statewide protest demanding the resignation of DGP TK Rajendran and C Vijaybaskar on September 18 in all districts," DMK president MK Stalin said.

The party's move comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches in the residences of Vijayabaskar, Rajendran and others in connection with the multi-crore Gutka scam in 2016.
