Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria addressed the event to commemorate the 87th Air Force Day at Hindon Base in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
During his address, he commended the air warriors, acknowledged the glorious past of the Indian Air Force and shared how the Air Force operations have expanded to bilateral and multilateral exercises with foreign countries. Air Force Chief even acknowledged the valour of those air warriors, who conducted the Balakot airstrikes in Pakistan, hitting the terrorist camps in the country.
Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria said:
At the outset, I would like to commend all the air warriors on parade today. Your spirited and impressive demonstration this morning makes us very proud of the blue uniform.
Air Force Day is a momentous occasion when we look back on our glorious past with pride and satisfaction in our achievements over the last eight decades. On behalf of all the men and women serving in the Indian Air Force, I acknowledge with gratitude the contributions made by all our veterans whose resilient spirit, leadership and vision, have laid the foundation of today's Air Force. Today as we celebrate the Air Force Day, our thoughts and prayers are also with the families of our martyrs, who made the supreme sacrifice at the line of duty. I pay tribute to all those brave men and women. It makes us proud of our rich legacy.
I am extremely happy to compliment all the Air warriors for maintaining the operational preparedness of a very high order. In recent years, the geopolitical environment has been rapidly changing and uncertainties have created numerous challenges in national security. It is extremely important that we are always vigilant and alert to the existing sub-convention threat.
In the year gone by, the Indian Air Force has demonstrated its resolve and capability in punching the perpetrators of terrorism and we need to be aware meet any contingency that challenges the defense of our country.
We acknowledge the contribution of all personnel of the commands involved, stations who silently and professionally contributed to the airstrikes on terrorist camps in Balakot earlier this year. Apart from this, the IAF has achieved a number of milestones in the years gone by. Our helicopters deployed have provided round the clock aid to the paramilitary forces.
It is indeed noteworthy that all the organs of the Air Force- operations, maintenance, and administrations are working tirelessly with an absolutely synergised approach to attain high levels of efficiency.
The IAF has further expanded its bilateral and multilateral exercises, with Air Forces of foreign countries demonstrating to the world our growing strategic reach, growing competence, and capabilities. These exercises have increased and mutually benefitted all participating countries.
It is a duty of every Air warrior to take full ownership and responsibility of the combat equipment placed under them. The IAF has fulfilled all its nation-building responsibilities.
Every year, the Air Force Day is celebrated at Hindon base in presence of the IAF chief and senior officials of the three armed forces. The IAF was founded on October 8, 1932, and the force has participated in several crucial wars and landmark missions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hailed the role of the Indian Air Force in protecting the country during conflicts and helping people during natural calamities. On the 87th Air Force Day, the prime minister posted a short video on his Twitter handle to highlight the contributions of "air warriors". "Today, on Air Force Day, a proud nation expresses gratitude to our air warriors and their families. The Indian Air Force continues to serve India with utmost dedication and excellence," he said.
