" People of West Bengal are being misled about NRC. Today, I would like to clarify about BJP's policy on NRC, I would like to convey the truth to all of you. According to Mamata didi, millions of Hindu refugees will have to leave West Bengal. Friends,  there cannot be a lie bigger than this," he said.

Amit Shah also made a clear stand that no refugee will be forced to leave India. Calling the implementation of NRC to be a sensitive matter, Amit Shah accused Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress of instigating the people of West Bengal and spreading lies. He also advised the TMC to not mock the refugees for their sufferings.

" Today I would like to publically assure you that, all the refugees including the Hindu, Buddha, Sikh, Christian, and Jain, will not be forced by the Indian Government to leave the country. The lies that are being spread to instigate the people of Bengal," the Home Minister said.

Shah also revealed the BJP led Central Government's plan to introduce Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) before launching NRC.

"The BJP government will bring the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) before launching NRC. Under CAB all the refugees including the Hindu, Sikh, Buddha, Christian, and Jains will be given Indian Citizenship. I would like to assure all the refugees who have come to India that the Modi government will soon bring out the Citizenship Amendment Bill, after which all of you will have the same rights over the country as I do," he asserted while adressing the people in Kolkata.
