Amit Shah while speaking in the conference said that “This (making Ladakh a Union Territory) is the work done by our government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Due to the injustice that Ladakh had to face for thousands of years, now we have done the job of taking development in Leh Ladakh towards a new dawn. At the time when there was a discussion in Parliament, I assured the people of both the UTs that the development in the UT will move faster, we had also said that we will try to address them by understanding all their needs. Today I am glad that the Petroleum Ministry and Indian Oil, under the leadership of Dharmendra Pradhan have succeeded in getting such special grade diesel there, and that the diesel wouldn't solidify at even -33 degrees Celcius. This will give a new beginning in the lives of the people of Leh Ladakh and when it is time for maximum tourists to visit the place. This will give a lot of boost to tourism and its economy.”

Inaugurating the national tribal festival ''Aadi Mahotsav" in New Delhi, on Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been standing solidly behind the tribal population like a "brother" and ensuring that they get benefits of government welfare schemes. "In 70 years since Independence, the tribals were used by the Congress as vote bank. The party did nothing for the welfare of the tribals. Whenever the BJP came to power, it initiated a series of development schemes for the tribals," he said.
