  • Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka has stoked controversy by stating that 'Army chief could have orchestrated the attack'
  • As many as three people were killed and 20 others were injured from the tragic Amritsar blast

The day on which tragedy struck Amritsar, where two assailants on bike threw grenades at the Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar's Rajasansi Village killing three and injuring as many as 20 people, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka has stoked controversy by stating that 'Army chief could have orchestrated the attack'.

Speaking to the media about the blast, which was a possible terror attack, Phoolka, while stating that no one should be held responsible till investigation is complete, hinted that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Bipin Rawat was the man behind the attack. He said,

"Army Chief came and made a statement. To prove his statement, he could have orchestrated the attack. This matter should be looked into. Did govt do it (attack)? Did the earlier govt do it now? It is wrong to repeatedly say that Punjab's atmosphere is not good. We must get to the root of it. Govt must get to the root of it. Those who made false statements about Maur blast, what action has been taken against them? What action has been taken against him? Punjab is a sensitive state. One must not make statements without facts. One must not make accusations. Get to the root of it - who did it? Why and how was it done? It's very important."

As many as three people were killed and 20 others were injured from the tragic incident. Two bike-borne individuals, wearing mask, paraded into a religious congregation which was taking place at the location, and threw grenades. Though, their identity is yet to be ascertained, given no CCTV was present at the blast location.

In the aftermath of the attack, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh stated that ISIS, along with help of Khalistani groups, could have been behind what is possibly a 'terror attack'.

"This is obviously the heavy work of some organization, like the ISI across the border. But who they are using and how they are doing it, all will be found out. The organization that does it is ISI, nobody else does it. They operate from outside through the Sikhs for justice and other people like that. There could be a Khalistan or ISI link. We will get to the bottom of it. We were always on alert. We have so many incidents over the past years. All have been connected to the ISI. You will see this will also have connection the ISI," he told in an exclusive to Republic TV.
