Army Jawan attacked by stone pelters in Anantnag, succumbs to injuries

In Kashmir, stone-pelting attack leads to the death of a 22- year old army jawan

In a stone-pelting incident in Anantnag district, an Army jawan succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Identified as Sep Rajendra Singh, 22 years of age, was part of a Quick Reaction Team which was responsible for the provision of security (protection) to a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) convoy on 25 October 2018. At around 1800 hours, on their passage through the Anantnag bypass tri-junction near NH-44, they were obstructed by few youths hurling stones at the vehicle. Sep Rajendra Singh was injured with a stone hit directly on his head. 

The jawan injured on Thursday was provided with immediate after-care and first aid and was even evacuated to 92 Base hospital, but giving in to his injury passed away on Friday. 

Sep Rajendra Singh hailed from village Badena in Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand and had joined the Indian Army in 2016. He is survived by his parents.

On Friday, in another encounter between the Indian defense forces and terrorists in Malganipora area of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a soldier of 22 RR identified as Brijesh Kumar succumbed to his injuries. Along with him, two terrorists were shot down in the joint search and cordon operation of the Special Operations Group of Police (SOG), 22 RR and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) in Sopore district. 

Although this continual unrest in Anantnag was reported by Republic TV on October 24, where the channel got access to three videos of over 22 Gun-toting terrorists threatening Kashmiri locals in Anantnag. During a funeral procession of terrorist Sabzar Ahmad Sofi who was killed in an encounter with security forces on Wednesday. The videos transparently showcase the atrocities and assault carried by these terrorists on Kashmiris gathered for the ceremony at Naina Sangam in Anantnag. Leading to the injury of two locals in firing as 'gun salute' given to the terrorist. Eight top terror commanders, including Zeenat Ul Islam and Naved Jatt, attended the funeral. 

The videos captured Hizbul terrorists standing on elevated platforms, raising lathis to intimidate the crowd and within the chaos, a local was seen violently manhandled and physically abused. The terrorists were also seen raising 'Azadi slogans, firing bullets and threatening the crowd.
