The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, celebrated his 73rd birthday on October 1 as several political leaders extended their greetings on their social media handles. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and extended his warm wishes for President Kovind’s birth anniversary.

Among the other prominent BJP leaders, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh sent ‘warm wishes for the President, wishing him a long and healthy life’. 

 

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also greeted the President and wished for his long and healthy life.

 

 

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has tweeted her prayers for Ram Nath Kovind's birth anniversary, wishing 'for his long and healthy life in the service of the nation'. 

 

 

Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted saying that 'President Kovind has continually enriched our nation with his sagacity and perspectives'.

The former Governor of Bihar, Ram Nath Kovind was elected as the 14th President of India on July 25, 2017. Formerly elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh, President Kovind began his political career in the year 1994. Earlier, Kovind has been a successful lawyer during his practise in Delhi High Court and Supreme Court of India, after doing his LLB from Kanpur University, UP.

He secured huge majority over the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) contestant, Meira Kumar in the Presidential election. He is considered as 'an epitome of simplicity and calmness'. President Ram Nath Kovind has been on regular tours in different parts of Indian states to reach to the maximum number of citizens. Only in the first year of tenure as the President, he became the first Indian president to conduct three consecutive state visits to Africa.
