Politicising the 'cow' comment, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi railed against PM Modi for only speaking on 'one religion.' Moreover, Owaisi pointed out how people are being lynched in 'BJP states in the name of cows.' Owaisi asserted that despite PM Modi speaking over the cases of mob lynching, there has been no impact on the ground because the BJP ruled states are 'supporting the accused.' He further 'hoped' that the  Prime Minister would acknowledge the other religions as well.

He said, "Prime Minister's statement came with the Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra assembly elections in view. I'd like to ask the Prime Minister, isn't it true that every India hears the sound of Masjid in the morning, Om from the Mandir, voices from the Gurudwaras and homes of Christians. This is the beauty of India. I hoped that the Prime Minister would acknowledge everything, however, he is saying what he has been for so long. But the Prime Minister only speaks of one religion."

"I'd like to tell him that since you've become a Prime Minister, how many people have been lynched in the name of cow, you said that it pains you a lot but there is no impact of this because you and your state governments are supporting the merciless. In Jharkhand, the accused in the Tabrez Ansari case are charged with Section 32, wasn't Pehlu Khan killed over cow? In Unnao was the murder not over a cow? We are hoping the Prime Minister should respect animals, he should respect the sentiments of people's religions, we know the cow is holy for our Hindu brothers, but in the Constitution, Right to life and Right to equality is for people,"  Owaisi added.

PM Modi's 'cow' statement

At the launch of the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, PM Modi spoke about the phenomenon of 'cow phobia,' which is ruining the country. He added that some people get an 'electric current' on hearing the word 'cow.'

"It's our bad luck that some people are spooked when they hear words like Om and Cow. There are people who think that the country has gone back to the 16th century. However, there are people who have cow phobia and om phobia. Such mentality has ruined the country. In India's rural economy - animals are priceless. Can you imagine a rural economy without animals? Can a village run without animals? Can a rural family lead a normal life? But don't know why some people get an electric current after hearing a cow. Friends, the government is very serious for animals- after the govt was formed within 100 days- one of the big decision was for the welfare of animals," PM Modi said.

Owaisi on mob lynching

AIMIM chief accused the government of not prioritising the cases of mob lynching that have claimed lives in 'BJP states', further accentuating that right to life and right to equality in the Consitution is for humans.

He said, "His own government in Jharkhand, in 5 years nearly 18 cases of mob lynching have taken place, nearly 11 deaths happened of Dalits and Muslims, I hope the PM felt shocked and pained. Thrice the Prime Minister has said that 'it pains me' then why is it not stopping in the states where BJP is in power. It clearly shows that the priority of the government is different. In our Constitution, the Right to Life and Right to Equality is for human beings."
