Asaduddin Owaisi: 'Idea of Hindu Rashtra is based on Hindu supremacy'

The All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat for his 'Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra' comment on Wednesday, October 9. Owaisi took to Twitter and said the idea of Hindu Rashtra is based on Hindu supremacy. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed a rally at the RSS Dussehra Celebrations on Tuesday where he made this statement.

'Hindu supremacy'

In his tweet, Asaduddin Owaisi said, "The idea of Hindu Rashtra is based on Hindu supremacy. It means the subjugation of anyone who isn’t Hindu. Minorities will only be ‘allowed’ to live in India. According to the Constitution, we’re India i.e Bharat. Hindu Rashtra is a flight of fantasy borne out of insecurities."

Earlier on Tuesday, Owaisi also spoke about the lynching comment made by Mohan Bhagwat. In his tweet, he reminded Bhagwat that the victims of lynching were Indians. He questioned who had garlanded the convicts and draped them in the tricolour. Taking a shot at Bhopal BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya, he stated that we now had a 'Godse-loving' MP. He clarified that Bhagwat had not directed to stop lynching, but had said 'don't call it that'.

'Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra'

During his speech, on Tuesday, Bhagwat asserted that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is firm on its vision that "Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra". He also highlighted the importance of staying united while, recognising differences, he further added that a society's strength lies in staying United.

Addressing the Vijayadashmi function of the RSS at Reshimbagh ground in Maharashtra's Nagpur city, he said all Bharatiyas working for the nation's glory and enhancing its peace are "Hindus". "The vision and proclamation of the Sangh regarding the identity of the nation, the social identity of all of us, and the identity of the country's nature are clear, well-thought-of and firm that Bharat is Hindustan, Hindu Rashtra," he said.

"Those who belong to Bharat, those who are descendants of Bharatiya ancestors, those who are working for the ultimate glory of the nation and joining hands in enhancing peace, respecting and welcoming all diversities; all those Bharatiyas are Hindus," he asserted.
