The Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey has indirectly alleged that it was Pappu Yadav’s supporters that threw ink on him while he was visiting Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to review the measures adopted to contain dengue in Patna. The MoS was about to board his car after interacting with the patients when the ink was smeared on the minister’s half jacket by an unidentified young man.

'It's a wrong trend in politics'

Ashwini Choubey, subtly hinting at Pappu Yadav’s involvement, stated that, “This is the handiwork of those who used to indulge in crime before entering politics. I don’t know whether the person concerned was an attendant of a patient or someone else. The person who threw ink, I don’t know who he is, but I feel it's a wrong trend in politics, and people who were doing politics of criminals are indulging in this (hinting at Pappu Yadav) Khisiyani Billi and Khambha Noche.” He further added, “They could have thrown anything, and my life could have been in danger. The police should act on this. It's a breach of security. I believe in the politics of non-violence." Not only the minister's half-jacket and face had ink marks but there were also blots of ink marks on the bonnet of his vehicle and his supporter’s body. The culprit has been identified as Nishant Jha, who is a member of the student wing of Pappu Yadav’s Janadhikar party. The culprit is currently on the run. Pirbahore police station SHO Rizwan Ahmad Khan said, "We will get hold of the miscreant as its been a breach of security cordon of the minister."

'It should not be linked to my party'

Responding to the Union Minister’s allegations on his involvement in the ink throwing incident, former MP Pappu Yadav said, “I don’t know who is Nishant Jha. I have just returned from Delhi, but there is anger against the government in power for drowning the people of Patna,” he added, “It should not be linked to my party. This is public outrage. Choubey Ji talks about me being a criminal, then why did he and his supporters meet me to support him in the Buxar Parliamentary constituency during the Lok Sabha elections.” It is not the first time that Pappu Yadav’s supporters have thrown ink or shown black flags to political opponents. Earlier one of his supporters had shown black flags and blocked the carcade of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
