  • The Supreme Court in its 2:1 majority judgment batted for speedy disposal of the Ramjanmabhumi-Babri Masjid case
  • Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti while welcoming the verdict, justified her actions during the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992
  • Bharti said that the Ayodhya shouldn’t be linked with religion as it’s not a case of clash of two faiths

The Supreme Court in its 2:1 majority judgment, batted for speedy disposal of the Ramjanmabhumi-Babri Masjid case, while rejecting the plea to refer the case to a larger bench. Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti while welcoming the verdict, also justified her actions during the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992.

“Bhale hi ek dusre mamle mein CBI humpe sunwai kar rahi hai ke hum apradhi hain, lekin aaj humara apradh dharma mein badal gaya, punya mein badal gaya, tapasya mein badal gaya kyunki Ram Mandir ke nirman ka raasta khul gaya (Even as the CBI is hearing a case against us terming us as criminals in connection with Ayodhya issue, today our crime has turned into righteousness, charity, penance, because this verdict paved way for the construction of Ram temple),” said Uma Bharti.

She also claimed that there is no conspiracy behind the case and hoped that there will be a speedy disposal.

“I am astonished as to how can there be any conspiracy behind anything which is so clear and transparent as there was no hidden issue in this. For me, this day is very important. I welcome this decision and I believe that there will be a speedy hearing and the solution will be such that in this country Ayodhya will become the reason of goodwill and harmony,” she said.

In May last year, charges were framed against BJP veterans L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister Uma Bharti and nine others for criminal conspiracy under section 120B in connection with the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

Bharti said that the Ayodhya shouldn’t be linked with religion as it’s not a case of clash of two faiths.

“Unhindered hearings will commence from October. And, I believe that the construction of a grand Ram temple will begin soon. I have been saying this since the beginning that it is not a case of clash of two faiths because for Hindus that land is ‘Ramjanmabhumi’, but for Muslims it’s not a place of historic or religious importance. For them the place which is of historic and religious importance is Mecca Medina as for Christians, it’s the Vatican city,” said Uma Bharti.

Uma Bharti also slammed Rahul Gandhi for temple politics and accused the Congress of diving country in the name of religion.

“After being in politics for so many years, Rahul Gandhi is remembering Ram now. We went out of power because of taking Ram’s name, and he is trying to come into power by taking his name. Actually, the Congress thinks that the people of this country are oblivious. Rahul Gandhi might be suffering from forgetfulness, but that’s not the issue with the people of this country. I remember that the country got divided in the name of religion under Congress rule. The partition of India happened because of religion. And, at that point of time neither I was born nor Narendra Modi was born. At that point of time, his (Rahul Gandhi) grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru was there. Congress leaders was there then and there was an ideological agreement that partition should happen,” said Bharti.

Raking up emergency, Uma Bharti said, “They misused 356 (Article 356 - emergency provisions), because we took the name of Ram. they dismissed our governments in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal. Taking the name of Ram had become such a huge crime. Now, they think that people don’t remember all these things. Sp, I feel all this is a joke. They are making fun of people’s memory. But, the people remember everything that how they dallied with this country in the name of religion. So all this is mere theatrics, because in reality, in the name of religion, they dismissed our government and divided this country."
