Baba Ramdev On National Herald Piece: 'Congress Has Shown Its Culture'

Reacting to the controversial article published in the National Herald newspaper, Baba Ramdev opined that this showed the culture and nature of Congress.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev in an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Sunday reacted to the controversial article published in the National Herald newspaper, touted as the Congress party’s mouthpiece. He opined that this showed the culture and nature of Congress. He also took a jibe at the party suggesting that its steep decline in electoral politics could be attributed to such actions. Baba Ramdev added that the people of India had come to know about the basic nature and culture of Congress.

Baba Ramdev remarked, “If Congress had not committed any sin, it would not have disappeared from the political map of India. Congress has shown its culture and nature before the country. So the people of the country have come to know about what is the basic nature and culture of the Congress. They have given their introduction. Any person can give his introduction. So, it has given its introduction.”

Controversial piece

The article in question was an opinion piece titled ‘Why a devout Hindu will never pray at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya' penned by journalist Sujata Anandan, in which she referred to the Babri Masjid demolition and opined that two wrongs did not make a right. She also fearmongered about the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ayodhya case encouraging barbarism of the mobs. Furthermore, Anandan contended that as a devout Hindu, she would never visit or pray at the proposed temple in Ayodhya.

National Herald issues an apology

The National Herald newspaper apologised for this article after considerable outrage on social media. It stated that there was no intention to hurt the sentiments of any group. Moreover, it clarified that the views reflected in the article were the personal views of the author. Thereafter, the article was deleted as well.
