An army personnel was martyred and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Panar forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday. The operation has been going on from the past four to five days. It started off after militants had opened firing in the forest area a few days ago.
It is on Thursday morning that the security forces took down two terrorists after the first encounter on Wednesday afternoon. However, the Indian security force lost one of their soldier who succumbed to bullet injury.
The encounter is still underway and there are several terrorists hiding in the forest. Since the forest is dense, it is difficult to carry out the operation.The Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the dead terrorists. The identity of the slain terrorists, however, could not be ascertained so far.
Earlier in February, a similar encounter took place in Shakurdin Mohalla of Hajin area of Bandipora district. Security forces had launched a search operation in Shakurdin village following information about presence of militants there. The search operation had turned into an encounter after militants opened firing towards security forces.
In a similar incident in February this year, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, believed to be from Pakistan, who was injured in a gunfight with security forces in Bandipora district had succumbed to injuries. His body was found after exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces in Bon Mollah village of Hajin in Bandipora district.
