Five days after 2 men were lynched in Assam, 2 more shocking cases of lynching have come to light. In Godda in Ranchi, cow vigilantism has reared its head as two men who were suspected to be cattle thieves were lynched on Wednesday by a ruthless mob. Villagers accused them of stealing 13 buffaloes. A case has been registered and four people from the village have been arrested.
After the incident, security has been tightened in and around the village.
As per several media reports, there had been past instances of cattle theft in the area, due to which there was anger among the villagers. And in the recent incident, when they suspected another cattle theft, the villagers turned violent and beat the men up mercilessly.
At the same time, in Malda in West Bengal, a man was tied to an electricity post and beaten to death by a mob. Police have arrested three people for the crime on the basis of a video of the incident. The man was suspected of being a child-lifter by the ruthless mob.
As told by sources, a mob confronted the victim at Bulbulchandi-Dubapara village in Habibpur and asked him why he had come there. When his response failed to satisfy them, they tied him to an electricity post and began beating him.
Meanwhile, A total of 23 people have been arrested in connection with alleged lynching of two men in Assam's Karbi Anglong.
The incident took place in Karbi Anglong district on Friday, when Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath from Guwahati, who were on vacation, were lynched by the villagers of Panjuri Kacharigaon after they mistook the two as child lifters.
The matter came to light when the video of the same went viral on social media.
In the video, the youths can be seen pleading to the mob that they were not child lifters and be let off.
