Bengaluru: MBA student dies of cardiac arrest during ramp walk

A 21-year-old MBA student died due to a suspected cardiac arrest while she was practising ramp walk for a 'fresher's day' celebration at her college

In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old MBA student died due to a suspected cardiac arrest while she was practising ramp walk for a 'fresher's day' celebration at her college, the police said. The student, who has been identified as Shalini was a first-year MBA  student. The incident was captured on CCTV camera.

"The student died while practising ramp walk for the fresher's day celebration in her college. The cause of death is suspected to be a cardiac arrest. She was standing near the stage after her turn when she fell to the ground," the Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashi Kumar said.

A case has been registered at the Peenya police station

The other students who were present at the site immediately took her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, the police said. The incident reportedly took place at around 5 pm on Friday evening. A case has now been registered in Peenya police station under Section 174 (c) of Code of Criminal Procedure, which deals with the procedure where the police and magistrate need to follow in case of suicide or unnatural death. An investigation in the matter is underway, the police confirmed in a statement.

Brazilian Model dies on the ramp

In April, a leading Brazilian male model died after tripping on his shoelace during the Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Tales Soares (Cotta), a 26-year-old model from Brazil fell on the ramp during one of the shows. According to reports, Soares was apparently unwell when he took to the ramp. A paramedic team immediately rushed to the ramp to attend to Tales when he fell. He was later taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, the model was pronounced dead at the hospital. Some reports suggest that he could have suffered an epileptic seizure.
