Bihar CM Nitish Kumar congratulates DRDO scientists after India's gamechanging 'Mission Shakti' A-SAT test

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulates the scientists after India's gamechanging Mission Shakti A-SAT test taking defence capabilities to the next level.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and announced that India has become a space superpower after its first-ever anti-satellite weapon shot down a Low-Orbit Satellite in the space, a mission which was named "Mission Shakti".

Following this massive announcement, Bihar Chief Minister took to Twitter and congratulated the scientists who were behind this historic feat.

He wrote: "'मिशन शक्ति' की सफलता पर डी०आर०डी०ओ० एवं 'मिशन शक्ति' से जुड़े सभी वैज्ञानिकों को बधाई। पूरा देश गौरवान्वित है।

Addressing the nation, PM Modi had mentioned that this will be a 'game-changer' and that the weapon which the country now possesses is just for its own safety, and not as a show of power against any country.

"India has entered its name as an elite space power. An anti-satellite weapon A-SAT, successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit. India has registered herself as a Space Power today; till now only US, Russia and China have achieved this; now India is the 4th country to achieve this feat. It was a very difficult mission. It is a very proud moment for India and its citizens today. I would like to congratulate the scientists of India who operated the mission successfully," PM Modi said while addressing the nation on Wednesday morning" 

On March 27, 2019 India conducted Mission Shakti, an anti-satellite missile test, from the Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Island launch complex.This was a technological mission carried out by DRDO. The satellite used in the mission was one of India’s existing satellites operating in lower orbit. The test was fully successful and achieved all parameters as per plans. The test required an extremely high degree of precision and technical capability. 

The satellite which has been hit is a micro satellite that was launched by the ISRO on January 24, 2019.
