As incessant rains for five days have flooded Patna, the capital city of Bihar, Republic TV has exposed the failed urban planning system of Patna. While the streets in Patna can be seen inundated, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi was rescued by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday. On Tuesday, Republic TV's report showed that the lane outside Bihar's health minister Mangal Pandey's residence was flooded as the sewerage system failed in the state's capital. Though the minister himself was not available, Republic TV confronted his wife. She said, while speaking to Republic TV, that waterlogging happens every year but incessant rains this year have led to a dire situation.
As the state of Bihar is reeling under the deluge of unprecedented rain, its deputy chief minister and BJP leader Sushil Modi was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team. A video circulated online shows deputy chief minister Sushil Modi and others being rescued in a boat by rescue teams, after his residence in the capital city of Patna was flooded. Here is the video:
Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Minister of Law and Justice of India, who is the MP of Bihar's Patna Sahib constituency in the Lok Sabha, was confronted by Republic TV on Tuesday over flooding taking place in Patna, Bihar. When asked to contrast the current situation with claims of Patna being transformed into a 'Smart City' by the Centre and the Bihar government, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Today, I don't want to criticise. I understand the pain of the people of Patna, which is why I have been going around in the city and even today I will be going around. I have cancelled my scheduled meetings. Tomorrow I will be here on Gandhi Jayanti as well."
